With a little help she identified the litter tray and has been using it. She has been really friendly and so far a real delightful addition to our familly. Thank you so much for all your help and we hope you find home for all the other cats." and later "Just to let you know that after a week we have had no problems with Sappho. She is such a great cat and has settled in really well. She has even started playing with her toys and strutting about like she owns the place."

Doerak
(formerly Golden)

ADOPTED 7/15/2004

Doerak was adopted by Peter and will be a friend for Barrs (adopted through SCN last year)! Doerak is a Dutch word that originally stems from the Malaysian word for "a mischievous boy." Peter says "Good news. The integration of Doerak in the cat family is going great. Does this little guy have an appetite! The other cats, Pooni, Beamer and Barrsik have accepted him and they now spend the day together without hassle. Barrsik is, as I said before, completely enamored with his new brother and they play a lot. Doerak is quite the little investigator, he roams through the house, has several safe spots (that the others can't get into to). He is a true bundle of joy. I am attaching a few pictures of him in his new surroundings for "Happy Tails". Please inform the foster mom about Doerak's well being."

Fleece

ADOPTED 7/10/2004

Fleece was adopted by Bea and Paul!

Mars

Neptune

ADOPTED TOGETHER 06/18/2004

Mars and Neptune have been adopted by Shawn and Terie! They say "Neptune is a water cat. He was laying in the tub and wouldn't move..
even after the water was started. he layed there and let the water run
on his butt. They both like sleeping in the tub or the spare bathroom
sink - weird. Mars has learned that a toy mouse can be used as a sort of
racquetball.... he tosses it against the door, the wall...anything that
is hard and makes noise...then chases it." and "The boys are adjusting.
They are very playful at times... they sleep alot and just love their
Laser Pointer. They are typical cats :-) They are still a little skittish when it comes to loud noises or household appliances, and it seems like they are starting to accept us as part of their world."

Harmony

ADOPTED 06/18/2004

Harmony was adopted by Marisa! She says "I'm happy to report that she is doing just fine. I renamed her Felina and she likes that name :) It was pretty bad Friday and Saturday but by Sunday they were starting to adjust and by Monday they were friends. I knew Peeky would get over the initial shock [of being introduced to a new cat]"

Dolly

Dolly was adopted by Richard! He says "Thank you for helping us find dolly, she has been a veritable pleasure to be around."

Christina

ADOPTED 06/08/2004

Christina was adopted by Teresa and Jason! They say "Everything is going as smoothly as possible. It is very nice to have a cat in the house that is more feisty and playful. :-) We are having a great time with her!"

Bogart
(formerly Columbo)

ADOPTED 06/08/2004

Bogart was adopted by Katie, who adopted Zucker and then came back to get his brother so they could stay together as a family! Here's a picture of the brothers taking a nap in their carrier after being reunited.

Harry
(formerly Jimmy)

ADOPTED 06/04/2004

Harry was adopted by Treva and family! He was named after Harry Potter (the ovie came out the day they picked up Harry!). Treva reports " Harry is doing great! He's doubled in size - He has quite an appetite. We're having so much fun with him. Sassy (the big white dog) has taken him under her wing, she's so gentle and really puts up with a lot. The coon cat Max took his time accepeting Harry. It took about 3-4 days before he would tolerate him at all, however, I knew he had fully accepted him the other day when I saw Harry curled up in Max's bed with him. Their playing buddies now. Harry looks like he's playing with a grizzly bear when Max wraps one of his giant paws around him and rolls him to the floor. I'm making an appointment for Harry to see the vet next week. He seems to be very healthy. He's going to be a hand full- He's got a mind of his own and is very independent-He will only tolerate so much of babying him.--Thanks so much--We're already in love with the little guy and he fits into the family perfectly. Keep up your good work"

Callie
(formerly Rosa)

ADOPTED 06/04/2004

Callie was adopted by Daniel and Suzanne! They say "Just thought you would like to see how Callie is doing. She is just a loveable little kitty. She sleeps with us every night, and she is always entertaining us when playing with her little pink mice. She is always chasing the pink mice, and throwing it up and catching her. If we leave her by herself and go into another room, she follows us, as she doesn't like to be alone. Everyone in my family absolutely loves her, and next week my niece is coming home from school in Calgary, and she is really looking forward to meeting Callie."

MORE photos of Callie!

Bunny

ADOPTED 01/15/2004

Bunny was adopted by Asanee! She says "I love Bunny!!! She is the cutest thing. It didn't take her long at all to get used to her new home. The first couple of days were tough. She didn't come out from hiding at all even to eat or use the litter box except a couple of times, which I managed to bring her to the food bowl. By Saturday though, she started to eat and use the litter box and came out from hiding more. Now she eats and play very well. As for her relationship with my other cat, I think it is going well. They started to interact right away, although it was usually Bunny who made the initiatives. My other cat is still a little bit spooked because he had never been around another cat before. But I think eventually they will be great playmates because Bunny is very good at getting him to play with her. Anyway, I do want to thank you for giving me Bunny. She is such a treasure. We are so glad to have her!"

Whiskers

ADOPTED 12/31/2003

Whiskers was adopted by Dolores! Whiskers was successfully treated by radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism thanks to generous donors. Today he got to go to a loving permanent home where he will be pampered as he deserves! Dolores reports "As soon as we got home (and used the litter box) he began exploring. He'd occasionally stop for a snack, but has pretty much been checking everything out. Right now he is having a bath on a fleece throw right here by the computer. He's walking across the keyboard right now. He is the most perfect cat! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (that was a note from him!)"

Chi

Dayton

ADOPTED TOGETHER 10/28/2003

Chi and Dayton were adopted by Suzanne! She says "Chi's foster mother did a great job with her. Chi is very mellow and well-adjusted. Dayton is very rambunctious and nocturnal. She is probably still getting her kittenhood out of her. She is actually the aggressor with Chi in the evening. Chi is very kind and gentle and lets Dayton initiate boxing matches, hand touching under the door, and hide and seek. I think the two of them are a very good match. Chi moves over in the window perch and gives Dayton room to sit with her. Chi has even given Dayton a quick kiss on her head. I haven't seen Dayton kiss her back yet, but she is making great progress. They both sleep in the bed with me but not together. I'm looking forward to the day that Dayton cuddles up to Chi rather than jumping her in the night to play. I'm thankful that they enjoy playing together. Thanks for all of your help in meeting them."

Leo and Lucy

ADOPTED TOGETHER 10/20/2003

Leo and Lucy were adopted by Laurie and family! They say "The kittens have discovered the exciting world of a house. As I am typing Leo is avidly watching the printer as pages come out. I wish I had a camera within reach. Lucy just climbed into the linen cabinet which my sons left open. Toby is watching the goings on. Ten minutes ago Lucy chased Toby up the stairs, five minutes ago Toby chased Lucy down the stairs. They make me smile. Which brings me to my next subject... My older son is a gentle soul who worries about a few too many things, but hey I love the way he gets involved. He located your website and has been monitoring it daily. He has been monitoring it daily because he is concerned about Lucky. Every day I hear, "Lucky hasn't been adopted yet mom. She is still in a cage. Louie (the new name my sons gave Leo) and Lucy are having the kitten Olympics and Lucy is in a cage! She was so nice, and she came right ot us and we have to help!"

and yes... they came back and adopted Lucky as well!

MORE photos of Lucky, Louie and Lucy!

Sierra (formerly Newton)

ADOPTED 10/11/2003

Newton was adopted by Christina and Robert! They emailed to say "I am happy to report that Newton, now Sierra, is happily adjusting to her new home. Luca

ADOPTED 10/11/2003

Luca was adopted by Rebecca and Daniel!

Nikki
(formerly Marietta)

ADOPTED 10/11/2003

Marietta was adopted by Anita! She says "I wanted to tell you how happy we have been with Marietta (actually, we're calling her Nikki.) She is a wonderful kitten and I believe that she is happy with us. I was really pleased to see how quickly she adjusted to our home. In fact even on the first night, she was coming out of her hiding mode and carrying out multiple attacks on our blanketed feet. She spends less time hiding and more time interacting with us each day, so I guess she has decided we're OK. We are continually amused by her curiosity, imagination, and athleticism and are grateful that she was in the waiting room the day we came to look for an adoptable cat."

Dori (formerly Sable)

ADOPTED 10/09/2003

Sable was adopted by Stacey and family! Stacey says that Sable made herself immediately at home and loves to sit beside the family members and purr. Stacey's young daughter renamed the cat Dori after her favourite character from "Finding Nemo", and loves to pet Dori's fluffy tail.

Ollie

ADOPTED 09/21/2003

Ollie was adopted by Sandy! She reports "I'm going to change his name when I find something that fits him. He is so very, very svelt, suave, and debonaire -- not an Ollie-type name. He's also a drooling fool, but there is no name for that either. Maybe Puu Chaii, which is "little boy" in Thai. Oh well -- we'll figure something out soon. His first day home he acclimated to the room he's being kept in -- found the litter box, food and water first thing. Then let me pet him and hold him for a bit -- purring all the while and drooling."

Lexi and Sara
(formerly Sapphire and Spice)

ADOPTED TOGETHER 09/11/2003

Spice and Sapphire were adopted by Tony! He says "the kittens, who have finally been renamed Lexi and Sara have discovered sleeping in bed with me, and now prefer to share my pillow."

Sorrel

ADOPTED 09/06/2003

Sorrel was adopted by Harry and family! They report "Our youngest daughter is responsible for her name- right now she likes Kitty, but we will give it a couple days. She is a playful and beautiful little kitten and we are all enjoying her. She enjoys exploring and running around the room. Thanks for your work getting these kittens adopted. Kitty is a wonderful little kitten and we look forward to many years of family life together."

Spot (formerly Sage)

ADOPTED 09/05/2003

Sage was adopted by Claire! She says "When I got home with him I opened his carrier in the bedroom, put food & water and litter box near, and let him adjust away from my other cats, checking in on him every 15 minutes. At bedtime I plugged in a night light and made steps for him to get up on the bed if he wanted to, so he crawled up and slept under my chin, purring away, all night... He loves to play with his leather shoestring and his veterinarian doll. He is a delightful little guy. I can't thank you enough for bringing us together."

MORE photos of Spot!

Shadow and Spot (formerly Columbus
and Toledo)

ADOPTED TOGETHER 07/07/2003

Columbus and Toldeo were adopted together by Julie and her husband. She says "They've been growing at an amazing rate. Shadow (formerly Columbus) has turned out to be quite a talker, running up to me when I show up as if to say, "Mom! You're back! ...Dammit, where've you been? You're grounded!" He's also very attached to a feather-duster toy, to the extent at growling at Spot (formerly Toledo) and popping him in the face if there's any sign of competition for it."

Cinnamon and Little Bear

ADOPTED TOGETHER 06/28/2003

Little Bear and Cinnamon were adopted together by Frelon and Connie!

Lily (formerly Annie)
and big pal Binks

ADOPTED 06/24/2003

Annie was adopted by Margaret and Jill! They say "We have fallen completely in love with that little kitten. She is the funniest, most stubborn, smartest, trouble-making cat that ever lived! Except, of course, for when she is asleep... I came across this picture of Lily and Binks and just couldn't resist sending it to you."

Bailey (formerly Spirit)

ADOPTED 06/21/2003

Bailey was adopted by Karla!

Lionheart

ADOPTED 06/14/2003

ADOPTED 06/12/2003

Butterscotch was adopted by Katia!

Natalie

ADOPTED 05/31/2003

Natalie was adopted by Alexis to be a friend for Drew (adopted from SCN last year)! Alexis says "Natalie wanted to come out of the bathroom by 6:00 pm on Saturday. I thought that was very fast! She is so friendly and unafraid of anyone or anything; I think the foster parents did a great job! I am working at home today and right now they are both out, and Drew is ignoring her for the first time, so I think that is a good sign. She is investigating!"

Mango

ADOPTED 05/31/2003

Mango was adopted by Angela!

Oliver and Simone

ADOPTED 05/31/2003

Oliver and Simone were adopted by Pam and Daniel! They report "They're settling in nicely; eating heartily and exhibiting fastidious litter box habits. They've discovered and mastered all the kitty nursery furniture. Yesterday I walked in after dinner and found them curled up together napping on top of a two story kitty condo. Simone has learned to scratch on a post and will climb to the top, no small feat for a kitten of her size as it's one of those extra tall posts. Oliver seems to prefer the cardboard alpine scratcher. I think he's destined to be a lap kitty. He crawls into my lap at most any opportunity and after a rowdy play session yesterday fell asleep there. He's a real love. Simone's a little more stand offish, but she climbed up on my lap as well yesterday after a meal and purred. It's funny to watch them together exploring the furniture. Oliver is the brave one who tries things first, with Simone hanging back to watch. Then after she sees how he does it, she copies him, but with more style and finesse as if she's out to prove that she can do it too, and better."

George

ADOPTED 05/31/2003

George (formerly Arnesto) was adopted by Jessica and James! They say "We actually decided to change his name to George.. he seems to be adapting well to it! We discovered just how chatty he is when we went to feed him so wet food last night.... he literally would not stop meowing until the plate was put down in front of him. He also would not stop pacing the apartment last night until we finally got into bed...he is so funny; he has very distinct ideas about how things should happen. Such a little personality!"

Georgia

ADOPTED 05/10/2003

Georgia was adopted by Lynne and William!

Puck

ADOPTED 04/18/2003

Puck was adopted by Elissa before he was even listed on our website (it was fate and she met Puck the day he was admitted to the vet clinic)! Elissa says "Just a little update on Puck... On the way home from the clinic he was a little nervous and meowed, but about half way home he settled down and just seemed to enjoy the ride. When we got home I let him out to explore the place. He sniffed around, explored every room and then came and nestled in my lap. I bought him a hammock that sits on the window sill so he can be comfortable and still feel like he is outside. He watched me build it and then played in it for a little while. I've found that he always wants to be near me, he cries a little when he doesn't know where I am and he loves his belly rubbed. I also think he really enjoys my down bedspread, he likes to make muffins (knead his little paws) on it!

Turtle

ADOPTED 03/28/2003

Turtle was adopted by Elisa! She says "I just wanted to let you know that Turtle is doing very well now. She's still somewhat shy and skittish, but her friendly and playful personality is really starting to shine through. She's out of hiding all the time now at night and has now begun venturing out during the day as well. Last night she played all evening long with us and didn't even mind when we had company over. She loves the toys that we have, especially the laser pointer which provides endless amusement. She's also begun eating on a regular schedule -- it's fun to watch her race over to her food bowl and chow down.

Palamino

ADOPTED 03/18/2003

Palamino was adopted by Tracey! She says "Just wanted to let you know that it seems we have a very happy kitty. He was out and about all evening last night, exploring, eating, playing and just seemed to be very content and happy. He is using his litter box. It was funny because he likes to sit at the sliding glass door and look out. Well the neighbor cat, a very big black cat came over and hissed at Pali, well Pali hissed right back and growled at it and it ran off, it was like Pali was saying, 'this is my home, and I am going to stay' He sure likes attention."

Polly

ADOPTED 03/16/2003

Polly was adopted by Maryna and Igor!

Emma
(formerly Girlie)

ADOPTED 03/14/2003

Emma was adopted by Ellen! She says "She's purring a lot now, so I think she's feeling OK. I had the door open and my 2 male cats were hanging out with her - Ashton, the all black male - just loves her!"

Cirrus
(formerly Flint)

ADOPTED 03/10/2003

Cirrus aka. Flint was adopted by Tracey! She says "Sunny and Cirrus were chasing each other early this morning and it sounded like a herd of elephants. Sunny is still pretending to be upset about having a new brother but I know that he really likes Cirrus. This afternoon he's been initiating playtime with Cirrus."

MORE photos of Cirrus!

Taffy

ADOPTED 03/05/2003

Taffy was adopted by Lauren and her son Nicholas! They report "Just a final note to tell you that Taffy has turned into a wonderful, affectionate pet. Every morning when I come downstairs to wake the boys, Taffy comes running up to beg for attention. His "meow" alarm gets the boys out of bed faster than Mom nagging at them. He loves being petted and brushed. He has many toys, but the thing that gives him the most exercise is a laser pointer. I don't know what he thinks he would do if he ever caught that red light, but it never fails to get him going."

MORE photos of Taffy!

Leo
(formerly Slate)

ADOPTED 02/22/2003

Leo was adopted by Mary! She says "He is doing SO well!! Yesterday he hid in a corner under a table - he let me pet him some (I didn't force it) but he was pretty cautious - though he watched me intently from wherever he was and looked comfy under the table and would roll over on his back. He did make a few bold circles around the living room while I was sitting there. When I woke up this morning, he was under my bed, and was there when I got back from church this morning - but there were little signs that he had ventured out and found his litter box and food. I took a nap this afternoon ... when I got up I found him curled up in his bed! He looked as happy as I was. He got up with me (this was about 5) and he's been Mr. Interactive ever since. He's taken quite a liking to my sandals ... licking the soles and sticking his head through the straps. He also found the tree - and that he can look out the window. A few minutes ago he unsuccessfully attempted to jump to the middle level and promptly ran under the bed, but just for a few minutes ... He's a little miracle. I didn't really think he'd adjust so quickly!

Sensi
(formerly Sidney)

ADOPTED 02/22/2003

Sidney was adopted by Liana! She says "Just so you know, sydney has now been re-named Sensi and LOVES his new home! He's very curious and loves playing with everybody. Thanks again for helping us get him, he's such a great little guy to have around!"

Kipling
(formerly Tamales)

ADOPTED 02/18/2003

Kipling's story about his rescue from Egypt and subsequent adoption will be featured in Dennis Rockstroh's column in the San Jose Mercury Thursday 4/24/03

Tamales was adopted by Lance and Betty! They emailed us: "He's taken to sleeping on top of a big fleecy saddle pad (fake sheepskin-ish), and we've actually found him underneath the pad a few times, all cozy and sleepy. He seems to relax and doze on it to the exclusion of amost everything else besides his cat tree. Felix, our last cat, really loved the same saddle pad. Must be a kitty thing. He also loves to bask in any patch of sun, just like you'd both mentioned. Any time one of us in at the computer, sitting in the living room or lounging anywhere in the house, Kipling is right there! Just a few days ago, he jumped up onto Lance's lap at the computer, and draped his large self across Lance's legs! Very comfy, he was, and seemingly content to watch stuff move around on the computer screen. Was polite enough to not try to walk on the keyboard, thank goodness!"

Josephia
(formerly Jane)

ADOPTED 02/15/2003

Jane was adopted by Sandra and Jim! They say "She has settled into our bedroom, which is pretty big and connected to the bathroom so her food and cat box can go there too, and is even sleeping on the bed with us! She is very clean and has had no accidents. When we let the dog in, she runs under the bed, but charged to the edge of it the other day and definitely let her presence know and that was that! I will wait a week or so before I try to bring her downstairs to the living room at night, we will put "Cressida" the puppy on a leash and introduce them in the open space that way.
So all and all I think she feel "HOME" and we both adore her!"

Buddy

ADOPTED 01/12/2003

Buddy was adopted by Teresa and her family!

Paddy

ADOPTED 01/11/2003

Paddy was adopted by Sally! She says "I’m happy to report that Paddy is doing just great and he and Drake are Best Buds. Having lots of fun playing together. They eat side by side and often sleep together. Depends on Drake’s “mood” at the time. Took Paddy to my vet yesterday and he looks great. Dr. said he would be a big one, judging by the size of his paws."

Abby
(formerly Kuro)

ADOPTED 01/09/03

Kuro was adopted by Eliza! She says "Thanks for your time yesterday and for helping me find a great kitty. Kura (I might call her Abby or Allie- I haven't decided yet) did well last night. She slept in the carrier all night but came out to eat and she used her litter box! She still likes to be within a reaching distance from the carrier but she's still so sweet. She still loves to be petted. I already took 10 pics last night but as soon I get cute ones, I'll send them to you." and later "Abby is growing too- she's filling in on the sides! She still doesn't like to be held but she I think she loves me because she wants to be next to me all the time! She greets me when I walk in the door and follows me around like a dog. No cat is sweeter than my cat!"

Gabrielle

ADOPTED 12/21/2002

Gabrielle was adopted by Michele and Mark! They say "Gabrielle is a doll! she is still a bit scared and timid, but I think she is slowly getting better. She sure does love to get rubbed and petted. She also loves the feather toy I bought her. It is cute to see her drink water. She sticks her paw in the water and then she uses her wet paw to clean herself. It is quite a sight!" and "Abby (we shortened her name) is so good!! It has been just about two months now and I think she is used to us by now. When we get home she loves to play and she sometimes follows me around so she could get a cheek rub. Here is a latest picture of our "lioness" playing."

Peanut
(formerly Robert)

ADOPTED 12/21/2002

Robert was adopted by Juny! She says "Robert is doing great! We've decided to call him peanut instead, because he's really fascinated by ...peanuts =) He's doing really well. Yesterday my friends came over, and Peanut/ Robert became the center of attention. He was really enjoying himself."

Rusty

ADOPTED 12/21/2002

Rusty was adopted by Ruchille! She reports "Rusty is doing really well! He adjusted in about a week...and really enjoyed the smell of the Christmas tree! He loves attention and greets guests with a loud MEOW, sniffs their feet, then makes his way to their lap and never leaves them alone after that! I dont know where he learned this, but he loves to play 'fetch'..like a little doggie, i would throw a toy ball across the hall, and he would bring it back to me in his mouth-every time!! He makes everyone laugh! He likes to roll around in the bathtub after I take a shower...so I now make sure to keep the door closed! I may have adopted a puppy in disguise!"

Cali
(formerly Holly)

ADOPTED 12/21/2002

Holly was adopted by Christina! She says "Cali-Kitten a.k.a. Holly is doing great, she is very friendly with everyone and is full of energy. She likes to be petted all the time and if you stop she cries. She is getting along quite well with her sister, they play constantly however they are still not yet sleeping together. Here is a picture of Cali-Kitten and one of her and her sister in the cat tree I built them for Christmas."

Abigail

ADOPTED 12/20/2002

Abigail was adopted by Shawn! He says "Her hiding issues have passed and now, if anything, she's a bit of an attention monger (climbing on the keyboard while I'm writing email, other benign kinds of stuff). She's getting bigger daily it seems. She's still very much the kitten as far as frenetic energy goes, she loves to just tear through the house for no particular reason. Her favorite toy has become my hand. Which is cool, except that she hasn't really figured out where play time stops and sleep time begins, so every once in a while she'll launch a sneak attack at about 4:30 in the morning... All in all, she's a wonderful cat, and she seems very happy here!"
